Are We Chasing the Right Kind of Success?

I’ll admit it: I don’t watch the Oscars, and I don’t watch much TV. But I do read.

I recently read about Ryan Coogler’s acceptance speech, and as a serial entrepreneur and more importantly, a proud father, it really resonated with me.

At the peak of his professional success, he didn’t talk about awards, deals, or numbers.

He talked about his wife. His parents. His kids.

He even apologized for the time away and reminded them that memories and the people you love, are what truly matter.

What Is Success, Really?

As entrepreneurs and business leaders, it’s easy to get consumed by the grind:

  • Growth targets
  • Revenue goals
  • Valuations
  • “What’s next?”

I’ve been there more times than I can count.

But moments like this force you to pause and ask a harder question:

What is success?

Is success defined by revenue, titles, and recognition?

Or is success about:

  • The quality of your relationships
  • The memories you’re creating
  • The impact you have on the people closest to you

Why Entrepreneurs Need to Redefine Success

In business, we’re trained to measure everything.

KPIs. Dashboards. Financial performance.

But the most important parts of life don’t show up on a scorecard.

If you’re running on EOS, you already understand the importance of alignment and clarity.

But clarity shouldn’t stop at your business.

It should extend to your life.

Because success without alignment eventually creates tension between your business, your family, and your priorities.

Success Changes With Each Season

What success means today may not be what it meant five years ago.

And it won’t mean the same thing five years from now.

That’s the part most people miss.

Success isn’t static, it evolves with your season of life.

And if you don’t pause to redefine it, you may end up chasing something that no longer matters.

Final Thought

For many entrepreneurs, success starts as growth.

But over time, it becomes something deeper.

Clarity. Freedom. Relationships. Impact.

So the real question isn’t just:

What is success?

It’s:

Are you chasing the right kind of success for this season of your life?
